The stairs from the living room to the upper landing. I've already painted behind the smoke detector to get that business out of the way.
On the landing, there are several doors to deal with, and not much wall area.
I have never been very fond of the light in the second floor landing. This will be replaced.
I've finally painted the stairwell walls to match the living room. I also painted the trim and textured the ceiling. The handrail now matches the trim, rather than being one of the few woodgrain pieces in the house. The handrail is mounted on new brass hardware.
In all the previous pictures there was a stair-runner carpet that matched the rug in the living room. It had pulled away from some of the tacks making it look a little funny, and possibly a bit of a hazard. I needed to either tack it back down or remove it completely. I decided to remove it.
