One view of the room. It is the largest room of the house based on floor area, but the sloped walls reduce the usable space somewhat. There really isn't much to paint, although that long cabinet will be a bit tricky.
Opposite view. I plan to keep the rug, so I will roll that up before I start painting.
The room is still a bit messy with sanding dust, and I haven't rolled the carpet back out or moved any stuff back in. What I have done is texture the ceiling, painted all of the trim and that big built-in cabinet. I replaced the old knobs with new ceramic knobs. I have also installed the first rail for the custom bracket shelves. From the pictures you can't really tell how much better the white parts look with fresh paint. Before it was dull, dirty white - now it's fresh, clean white. I also replaced the electric receptacles and plates.
These are some custom-built bracket shelves I designed for this room. The construction details are included in another gallery, but here is a view of the installation in-progress.
Two complete sets of shelves, loaded with books and magazines.
